Lampwork Beads

Hello, Emma Green here. Some of you may remember in the dim and distant past that I used to work here.

I taught myself to make glass beads right here at the Stained Glass Centre. After a few years I moved on to Tuffnell Glass. They are Europe's largest suppliers of Flameworking tools, glass and equipment. I had a wonderful time there and was lucky enough to meet and work with some of the worlds best hot glass artists. I also helped run Europe's biggest glass show, the 'Flame Off' event.

We invited people from all over the world to come to the UK and share with us their techniques and experiences. At the 'Flame Off' I showed around 500 people per day how to make their very own beads. Through those 6 shows alone I must have taught over 6000 people, they then went on to make beads either full time or as a hobby and I am lucky enough to call many of them my friends.

Now 6 years on it's time for a change.

I am back here helping to carry on the glassy tradition which has run through our family for 5 generations.

Big changes are in the pipeline with a shiny new teaching studio being built and hopefully completed next year.

Here we will be teaching all things glass .....Stained Glass, lampwork glass and I also plan on running other craft classes such as wire worked sculptures, jewellery making and felting.

To be kept up to date with these exciting changes why not join us on Facebook.

Catch you on Facebook
