Stained Glass Centre
About Us

Welcome to the Stained Glass Centre, situated between the Yorkshire coastal resorts of Scarborough and Filey.

Have you ever gazed at the stained glass windows in our great Cathedrals and churches and wondered how they were made?

Stained glass windows are made in the same way today as they were 1000 years ago. If you visit the Stained Glass Centre you will be able to appreciate the skills of the artists and craftsmen who transform coloured glass and lead into windows of beauty.

In 1884 William Lazenby opened the Bradford Stained Glass Works. His skills were passed on to his sons and his grandsons and today his great granddaughter, Valerie Green, carries on the art and craft of stained glass at the Stained Glass Centre in Yorkshire.

Valerie and her team produce new stained glass and leaded lights for churches, hotels, and homes throughout the country.

Stained glass doors, windows and lampshades are designed for traditional or modern interiors. Valerie and her staff are always available to discuss individual design requirements and help clients choose from the large range of coloured glass.

The experts at the Stained Glass Centre are also called upon to skillfully restore and repair old and damaged stained glass and leaded lights in churches and homes - using glass and painting techniques to match the original.

Visitors are welcome to visit the centre and browse the showrooms at the Stained Glass Centre which are an Aladdin's Cave of windows and door panels, lampshades, mirrors, candle holders, boxes and gifts, all made in beautiful stained glass

The Exhibition of Stained Glass in the Studio charts the history of the art and craft from mediaeval times to the present day. The stages in making a stained glass window are explained.
